Our Response to COVID-19

Advocating for every resident, team member and friend of Hawthorn Senior Living.

COVID-19 Response

Hawthorn Senior Living implemented a leveled response to the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020 and we continue to evolve our resident programming and employee training for all care levels as we learn more. We remain committed to responding to the challenges presented by the virus and following the directives of local health authorities.

COVID-19 Updates and Communication

We are committed to maintaining communication with our residents and families regarding infections within a community. While always respecting the privacy of the individual (including whether resident or staff), we will notify residents in writing if we are made aware of a positive case in the community. We will also send an e-mail update to anyone that subscribes to community-specific e-mail updates. You may subscribe by clicking here.

Vaccine Progress

Every Hawthorn Senior Living Assisted Living and Memory Care community is partnered with a local pharmacy and is vaccinating residents. More than 95% of all Hawthorn communities across the US and Canada have scheduled or completed their first vaccination clinic.

The following communities do not have a formal clinic scheduled; however, many communities or residents with the help of their families have been able to find local clinics and get vaccinated.

All Canadian independent living communities receive vaccines as directed by the government.

We are still allowing visitors in nearly every community, with some exceptions. Most Assisted Living and Memory Care communities are only allowed to have compassionate care visitors as directed by their local government; however, window visits can be arranged. Oregon is starting to allow visitors in assisted living. Please call ahead prior to visiting to confirm protocols.

  • We are following local and federal recommendations.
  • Face masks are required to be worn in all common areas. Staff and visitors are required to wear masks at all times.
  • All employees are screened prior to each shift.
  • Each visitor is screened when entering.
  • All doors are secured; entrance is only available at the front of the building, using the doorbell.
  • Extra cleaning and disinfecting of common areas and high traffic touch points.
  • Leveled response to positive cases that includes immediate testing, notification of residents as well as email subscribers for that community, and consultation with the local health department.

The Hawthorn team will continue to follow any developments through local and federal health authorities and adjust our approach accordingly. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Resident Relations Department at 1.866.267.8218.

Thank you for being a valued member of the Hawthorn Family and for your patience as we all work through this together.
